Job Description

Our Boston client is seeking to hire a Windows Systems Administrator on a contract basis. 

Detailed Description of Services:

  • Support the daily operation (2 data centers, 80 station locations and 50 users) in a 24/7 environment.

  • Must be able to respond to unanticipated situations without notice and available off hours when needed.

  • Diagnose and resolve system issues in a fast paced and high demand environment.

  • Provide routine maintenance on field devices including the management of disk space and other tasks to ensure high performance.

  • Ensure maximum up time availability of all field devices by responding to calls from HUB and tickets in Service Now. Rectify issues either remotely thru Bomgar or at various station locations

  • Setup, configure, and perform daytoday maintenance and administration of Windows systems (Windows XP and Windows 2003).

  • Install and maintain Microsoft clustering.

  • Maintain a PCI compliant environment. Review monthly scan results, determine remedy, test impact and remediate vulnerabilities.

  • Maintain Windows best practices, antivirus, firmware upgrades, and patch management for Windows operating systems.

  • Report vulnerabilities and areas for improvement through comprehensive reports and presentations.

  • Support corporate system audits by maintaining accurate, comprehensive documentation and provide timely responses to requests.

  • Support Change Management process by adhering to guidelines and providing proper documentation.

  • Create production notification scripts for proactive alerts and for routine administrative tasks.

Required Skills

  • Thorough understanding and experience with WSUS

  • Understanding of DNS, TCP/IP and LAN/WAN connectivity

  • Experience with system security requirements and server hardening practices including Bit9 and Carbon Black

  • Understanding of Oracle application

  • Ability to establish and maintain Windows architecture best practices and standards, including procedures, templates, and relevant documentation

  • Experience using monitoring tools such as PROCMON and Wireshark

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and ability to document processes so they are repeatable.

  • Strong trouble shooting skills



  • Bachelor's degree from a fouryear college or university, preferably in Computer Engineering or Computer Science or a related field

  • A minimum of 5+ years of production Windows Operating System support experience
