Job Description


Our Boston client is seeking to hire a Project Manager on a contract basis.

Desired Skills / Responsibilities:

  • Lead a cross-functional team to deliver on tight deadlines
  • Apply a rigorous and detail-oriented approach to breaking up work into achievable atomic parts
  • Build consensus on product vision and drive that vision forward
  • Work with the product owner to prioritize features and guide the development process through the creation of user stories; management of the backlog; definition of the MVP; and more
  • Accurately judge the level of effort for scoped work and identify and document project risks and needs
  • Manage the project scope and change control, escalating issues where necessary
  • Serve as primary liaison with clients and internal stakeholders, managing client expectations and keeping the team informed
  • Understand the business value of digital services and digital platforms
  • Assist with project administration tasks including budget and timeline management
  • Coordinate team communication and collaboration
  • Report to the Deputy Chief Digital Officer


Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of experience in a product management, project management, business analyst, or internal sales role
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once
  • Experience writing user stories for use by design, development, research, and testing
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment, and familiarity with Scrum and Kanban processes
  • Familiarity with Jira or other Agile ticketing systems
  • Experience with Google Analytics or other analytics packages is a plus
  • Familiarity with design tools like Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
  • Familiarity with HTML and CSS is a plus
  • Professional demeanor yet passionate about digital products put to use in service of constituents
  • Must work primarily on-site at the state offices in Boston
  • Occasional local travel required
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in business, design, usability, technology or a related field strongly preferred; graduates from a bootcamp program will also be considered
