Business Intelligence Manager (4665)

 

The Business Intelligence Manager is responsible for the enterprise data warehouse, operational data store, and master data management platforms. This role also has production accountability for the firm’s reporting and ad-hoc data marts, dashboards, scorecards, and scheduled reports. This manager participates in the evolution of data architecture principles, standards, documentation, and release management practices and ensures that all solutions are developed and supported in a manner consistent with the goals and strategies of the firm.

 

The Business Intelligence Manager develops and manages a team of architects, analysts and developers, sets and enforces design and development standards, assigns work and proactively manages resource capacity, and establishes and meets deadlines for project deliverables. This manager provides internal support and services to other areas of the Finance and Information Systems departments for projects and on-going operational support where applicable.

The Business Intelligence Manager supports the firm’s Data Governance program through the management of the Operational Data Store, use of MDS / Maestro technology platform to deliver data stewardship applications, and by assisting with the definition and adoption of data management principles, standards, processes, and controls across the firm.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Lead the BI & Reporting team through the design, development, implementation, and expansion of the firm's data warehouse, reporting and business intelligence platform
  • Implement an efficient and effective development framework that ensures high quality solutions are delivered to the enterprise
  • Collaborate and set clear expectations with stakeholders and with the development team on development priorities and production support issues
  • Collaborate with Information Systems on the design and deployment of the BI & Reporting technical environments, supporting all change management, release management, and business continuity standards & procedures
  • Be expert in the firm’s data, understanding the definition, context, lineageand proper use of all master and reference data attributes and metrics
  • Ensure that all related documentation (business requirements, technical designs, data dictionary, etc.) are created, maintained, and available in a central repository
  • Mentor and provide appropriate training for BI & Reporting team in data management best practices and proper use of data management technologies employed by the firm

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems or equivalent
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in data warehousing and business intelligence or financial reporting environments
  • Minimum 5 years experience with data governance programs and projects
  • Minimum 5 years managerial experience (DW and BI preferred)
  • Full lifecycle expertise in data warehousing, ETL & master data management, reporting and business intelligence solutions
  • Experience leading projects following agile and waterfall methodologies
  • Significant experience developing and supporting across the Microsoft BI Stack (2012 or later) and third party BI Solutions such as Business Objects and Tableau
  • Excellent listening skills, verbal and written communication skills, including effective presentation and meeting facilitation skills
  • Proven experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies and resolution
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong people and project management skills
  • Law firm or professional services experience preferred
  • Experience working in a multi-office environment
